Karen Gutfreund has lived in all four corners of the United States but has now settled in the Bay Area in California from New York City. She has worked in the Painting & Sculpture Department for MoMA, Emmerick Gallery, The Knoll Group, the John Berggruen Gallery and the Pacific Art League. She now resides in San Jose, CA and has been actively involved on the board of various arts organizations and is currently the Vice President and National Exhibitions Director for the Women’s Caucus for Art and the No. California TFAP Representative (The Feminist Art Project).  A curator of feminist exhibitions, Karen is also creating her own work, focusing on art as activism to effect social change.  She actively promotes the work of other artists as curator with national touring exhibitions.
